About the event

Bushcraft is fast becoming one of Australia's most sought after skills. Having some bushcraft skills under your belt quickly enables you to become more confident in when out and about in the Australian bush. 

This one day course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to survive in the bush without having to camp overnight. 

Bushcraft allows us comprehend nature with her awe-inspiring cycles to be able to connect and integrate with her. If you want to truly bond with nature at natures pace and with the seasons this is the place to be. Feel connected, think sustainably and act instinctively.

In this one day course you will learn;

  • Fire starting skills without matches  (magnesium strike fire starting).
  • Sourcing and preparing tinder and kindling
  • Fire preparation and management
  • Cooking over an open fire
  • Shelter building using natural resources
  • Bushtucker Foraging and preparation including bush medicine. 
  • Basic wood carving
  • Basic First aide skills 
  • Local ecology and heritage discussion

Cost: Cost is $140. Early bird price of $120 if booking before 1st November. Includes All meals and snacks including tea and coffee, tuition, tools includes woodcarving knives, machette and kukri knife.

Bring: A sharp knife for wood carving (if possible) , flint and steel or magnisium strike (Mag strikes can be bought from any camping store : Kathmandu, army surplus, BFC), covered shoes, pack in backpack, pen and notepad. Water bottle , hat, sunscreen, mess kit; cup, cutlery, bowl. plate. Back it into a comfortable back pack.

From a young man, Jarod has had many of his own insights into ecology and nature through rewilding, long survivalist hunting/foraging trips, and a diligent observation of ecological species succession and natural fertility cycles. 

Jarod offers tailored made bushcraft experience throughout the Southwest and Perth Coastal Plain.

Jarod offers a unique insight into the Western Australian environment through his experience in bushcraft, ecology, regenerative farming and permaculture, having developed his skills through practical experience.
