About the event
Well-preserved peaches, apricots, pears, nectrines and apples can elevate even the simplest of desserts to the next level, or add a terrific twist to a savoury worth savouring!Â
Join our MySelf Reliance Fruit Canning Class as we participate water bath canning in this hands-on workshop.
- You will learn to bottle fresh seasonal fruit of your choice.Â
- Can be used in dessert, yoghurt, smoothies, or on its own
- Can store in cupboard
- Walk away with a scrumptious 500mls jar of delicious, preserved peaches or fruit of your choice!Â
To keep the cost of the workshop down and to make sure you are canning the fruit you like to eat, we ask you to bring one kilo of either peaches, apples, pears, nectarines or apricots. You will preserve the fruit you bring for yourself. One kilo of fruit will roughly equal 500gm jar. We don't recommend bringing a variety of fruit for your first project. Just bring the variety of fruit that you would like to eat in the future.Â
If you prefer just to turn up with nothing to bring, you can make that selection in the registration process. Just remember to tick which fruit you prefer.
Cost: $40 per person. Payable to MySelf Reliance bsb: 112 879 acct 419 377 675 or in cash on the day. Â
Or $55 if you want the fruit included.Â
We will supply;Â
- jars
- all equipment for canning
- lunch
- drinksÂ
You will have the best fun learning about how to preserve fruit for the long term with great company.Â
In addition, we are fortunate to using a very nice community centre for this workshop. We have unique access to swimming pool and tennis courts. The tennis courts need to be prebooked but if you would like to swim after the class you are welcome to bring your costume and towel and use the pool. 🌻
About Atta. Atta is a mum of 3 boys. She was a teacher and loved working in schools until 2021 when her career came to an abrupt end. Growing up in Poland with her family, canning was a normal part of life. With only a small fridge to keep milk and butter in, everything else had to be ‘Canned’ to preserve food through the winter.Â
This class is very sort after so please only book if you know you can attend.Â
